The Groupe Mertz is a recognised specialist in the road transport of dangerous materials in the west of France. The company was acquired by Argos Soditic in January 2008 by way of a Management Buy In (MBI).
A family enterprise founded in 1956 and based in Rouen, Transport Roullé is also a specialist in dangerous materials. With nearly 130 employees and 100 vehicles, Transports Roullé generates turnover of more than 11M€. The acquisition takes place within the context of the succession of the Roullé family, the founders and actual managers of the Group.
For Argos Soditic and the management brought in by Messrs Léonard de La Seigliere and Jérome Begey, who have injected the necessary equity, this buildup:
- reinforces the positions and the leadership of the Groupe Mertz in the west of France
- brings into being a Group generating turnover of more than 50M€, with nearly 550 employees and 430 vehicles
- provides the possibility to improve even more the service to clients through a geographic diversification of the fleet & depots
In addition, Transports Roullé is an enterprise with recognised know-how. It is endowed with a portfolio of prestigious clients and has a real potential for growth. The quality, the service and the security developed by Transports Roullé are attributes which are valued equally by both enterprises.
Gilles Lorang states that: «With this acquisition, Argos Soditic perpetuates its policy of supporting and accompanying the Groupe Mertz. After the recruitment of the entire management of Mertz and the putting into place of management tools, the financial support from Argos Soditic was total for the launching of a policy of aggressive investment in 2010 and for proceeding with the purchase of Transports Roullé, in spite of a difficult market. Argos Soditic is delighted to be able to conclude this highly strategic operation for the Groupe Mertz, after more than a year of work and negotiations with the Sellers ».
